Back in the days without internet (remember those?), working at home meant cold calling people into buying something (that still exists of course) or working as a 1-900 operator (still exists too). But if those two things aren’t for you, the internet has opened up some great opportunities to make money without leaving your home.
1. Answer Surveys
It takes absolutely no skill whatsoever to do this one. Companies are always looking for someone to give their opinion on a product or service. All you have to do is sign up with a survey site then start answering as many surveys as you can! What you earn can differ from day to day. You won’t be making enough to quit your day job but what you get for such little work will add to your income. Be wary though of sites that ask for money; those are scams!
2. Buy and Sell
This kind of business is booming online. People set up online garage sales on eBay, and make a pretty tidy profit from their junk. Look at what you have around you and see what you can sell. When you’ve sold those items, go to your neighbors’ garage sales then sell those online too! You won’t believe what people will pay for. You can also scour through second hand stores or op shops for items. Some people even purchase things on eBay itself then they sell it again for a profit. Not a bad way to make a living at home. It will however be time consuming on your part since you have to watch bids but it beats working in a factory!
3. Virtual Assistance
If you have experience working in an office as a secretary or a temp, then you can easily go into business for yourself as a virtual assistant. Virtual assistants are basically the same as executive assistants except they communicate exclusively online. That means you can have clients from all over the world without ever buying a plane ticket! Aside from assisting, you can also write articles or research things for online clients. Outsourcing is huge, and small companies are always looking for affordable labor.
If working from home is what you really want to do but you still don’t know how to go about it make sure you do your research first. If you don’t you could end up losing money instead of making it. The rewards of working at home are endless and, believe me, are totally worth it.
